Another exciting time of the year again with the annual National Science and Maths Quiz. The 2024 NSMQ Prelims have begun, and surprising results have been seen so far.
From a thrilling contest at Auditorium 900 to CNC, catch all the latest results in this context.
The 2024 NSMQ Prelims have begun as of Monday 14th October 2024 with exciting contests already since morning. The first three contests of the day featured exciting and great schools in Ghana, with shocking results at the end of round five.
The National Science and Maths Quiz is a Primetime production and sponsored by the Ghana Education Service (GES), Joy News, Pepsodent, among others.
At the Auditorium 900, three schools, Zion College, Mfantsiman Girls’ SHS, and West Africa SHS competed for a spot in the one-eighth round. The first round saw the ladies from the Fante land with a 4-point lead ahead of West Africa SHS as Zion College observed with 11 points.
The observers now took charge with a jaw-dropping momentum as they came third at the end of round 2 with a point behind West Africa SHS as Mfantsiman Girls’ maintained their 4 points gap.
A deliverance that was shared on Mount Zion was not enough, as Zion College fought well to attain a 5/10 in the problem of the day. At the end of the third round, Mfantsiman Girls’s lead with 31 points as Zion College were second with 27 points.
The fourth round saw another stretch in gap by the ladies as they leaped to 44 points, with Zion and WASS at 37 and 32 points respectively. The last round (riddles) of the contest saw the ladies far asleep as they were wowed by the fight between Zion College and West Africa SHS.

Results for Auditorium 900:
Mfantsiman Girls’ SHS: 44 points
West Africa SHS: 42 points
Zion College: 40 points
Another contest also saw an all-girls’ school ‘lashing the pain’ out of her opponents. The initial round of the contest saw Ejisuman SHS portraying the fearless traits of Yaa Asantewaa as they leaped to 22 points with opponents, Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS and Wenchi Methodist both at 16 points.
The second round saw Porter Girls’ leap past Ejisuman SHS with a 2 point gap lead as Wenchi Methodist decelerated to 14 points. As prideful as it may sound, the ladies wonderfully lashed the fearless trait out of Ejisuman SHS as they scored an 8/10 in the problem of the day, with Ejisuman scoring 0. The Porter Girls’ still lead the contest at the end of the fourth round and finished with a stellar 45 points at the fifth round as Ejisuman placed 2nd with 32 points. Wenchi Methodist placed third at the end of the day with 26 points.

Results for CNC:
Archbishop Girls’ SHS: 45 points
Ejisuman SHS: 32 points
Wenchi Methodist SHS: 26 points
On a day when we thought hope and perseverance could have won, saw Hope College trail behind Kpando and Simms SHS at the SGS auditorium. Kpando SHS took the lead in the first round as Hope College were behind with a point difference as Simms SHS trailed with 13 points. Hope College and Kpando SHS were levelled at the end of round 2 as Simms SHS scored a ‘goal’ as they, again, trailed with 14 points.
A tame Kpando SHS stretched to 29 points as Hope College still hoped with 27 points as Simms SHS kept crawling from their knees. A mesmerising situation as Simms College increased their accuracy and momentum as they came second at the end of the fourth round with 37 points.
A ‘hopeful’ Hope College were left hopeless as Simms portrayed the ‘Real Madrid’ comeback as they won the contest with 43 points with Kpando SHS and Hope College with 38 and 36 points respectively.
