3 Teenagers Shot After Man Opens Fire In Las Vegas Neighborhood
3 teenagers shot after man opens fire in Las Vegas neighborhood, according to the local police and authorities.
According to documents obtained, a man opened fire with more than a dozen bullets, striking a crowd of mostly middle school students during a planned fight in a Las Vegas neighborhood, wounding three teenagers.
Police reported that Novantea Cordero, 24, fired 14 shots on Friday, April 12, and he is now facing 25 charges. Many called 911 that day at 9:20 p.m. to report the shooting. According to an arrest report, one of the witnesses claimed that a teenage boy had been shot and had knocked on their door, pleading for help.
Following an altercation between two teenagers earlier in the day, witnesses and victims told police that a group had gathered at a home to engage in combat.
Police identified Cordero as the suspect after speaking with a number of witnesses and victims, claiming that he left the scene after the shooting.
Recorded on Sunday, April 14, Cordero was taken into custody by police.
According to the report, Cordero told police that his girlfriend’s sister was fighting with a girl she used to be friends with. The victims informed the police that after the sister had jumped the girl, some of her relatives and friends had made the decision to “continue” the fight at Cordero’s girlfriend’s house.
After learning about the fight, Cordero went to the house to “make sure nothing bad happened,” he told the police. According to the report, Cordero described the group that showed up for the fight as “like a mob or gang forming” because they arrived in four different vehicles.
According to Cordero, he showed the group his gun and threatened to shoot them if they stayed. He told police that he began “shooting in the air” when the crowd refused to leave.
A 13-year-old victim informed authorities that he fled the scene of the shooting but later discovered he had been shot. Before someone answered and requested assistance, he claimed to have knocked on several homes in the neighborhood.
According to the report, two additional victims were shot: a 17-year-old girl in the foot and an 18-year-old girl in the leg.
