Afenyo-Markin Threatens Voters With 'Duabo' After Giving Them 1,000 Cedis Each
Afenyo-Markin Threatens Voters With ‘Duabo’ After Giving Them 1,000 Cedis Each. The MP for Effutu Constituency in the Central Region, Hon. Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin allegedly paid voters to vote for him in the upcoming December elections.
According to reports, hundreds of voters from his constituency were given sums of money, which the source disclosed it to be 1,000 Ghana cedis. The voters who received the money from the MP were told to partake in an oath-swearing ceremony in case they do not vote for the MP.
A video spotted by GlobalCurrent24.com saw some residents of Winnebago standing in a river which is close to the MP’s house. In the video scene, the caption read, “Fears grips Effutu voters as Afenyo-Markin threatens then with ‘duabo’ over 1,000 cedis”.
According to the video, these voters who were given the money were told to swear an oath with a schnapps bottle near the river close to the MP’s house. In case these voters do not vote for the MP and had taken the money just to squander, let the river gods deal with them.
Also, according to online sources, this act happened almost each day with over a 100 people undertaking this oath for money from the MP. Again, some of these voters claim that they were invited to revive the money from the MP but upon arriving, they were forced to take an oath before.
Some of these voters disclosed that, they agreed to partake in it because of their current situation as they face hardship. There’s no job here, we are suffering. I wasn’t expecting to swear an oath before getting this help from our MP, but that’s what we had to go through before they gave the money to us,” one woman disclosed.
“Deal with me in any manner that you want should I fail to cast my ballot for Afenyo-Markin,” one woman said, in the video. Again, one beneficiary said, “I’ve voted for the NDC before, but this time around I will vote for Afenyo-Markin and the NPP. Deal with me if I refuse to do so.” Some reasons these people took the oath was due to lack of employment and the search for capital to start a business.
Additionally, some beneficiaries deemed the oaths as mere, as they will not be voting for the MP on December 7th. According to them, Hon, Afenyo-Markin himself has deceived them and never fulfilled his promises as their Member of Parliament.
“We won’t vote for him, and we are also not afraid of the curses invoked because nothing will happen to anyone,” A man said shortly after leaving the MP’s house with the given money.

Initially, the MP was accused of bringing in fetish priests to perform oaths on behalf of the voters. However, some beneficiaries disclosed to the public that, they would not vote for him and nothing will happen to them regardless.
