Former Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan Withdraws Support For NPP After Being Selected To Be On The Campaign Team For Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.

Ex-Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan withdraws support for NPP after he was selected to be on the campaign team for Dr. Bawumia. Dr. Bawumia, the presidential candidate for the NPP ahead of the December polls, was hoping to amass votes also from Asamoah Gyan’s campaign.

Beginning of this year, the former Black Stars player was selected to be part of NPP’s campaign team towards the December elections. He was named as the chair of the party’s subcommittee on Youth and Sports. After his selection, he was seen severally campaigning for the ruling new patriotic party.

However, the former Sunderland striker renounced his support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Vice President Bawumia on the grounds that, “I want to focus on humanitarian work”. He announced his withdrawal in a post on X formerly twitter. He revealed that he has not been fair to the youth and prefers to help his way and not via any political affiliations. “I haven’t been fair to the youth and the people of Ghana. Henceforth, I am not affiliated to any political party. I will continue with my humanitarian work and help the youth of Ghana in my own small way,” he revealed.

Contrary to what he revealed with the reason attach, news coming in says otherwise. According to the founder and owner of Loud Silence Radio & TV Network, the reason Asamoah Gyan renounced his support for the NPP isn’t what he revealed in his statement.

According to Kevin Taylor, Asamoah Gyan was scammed by Sammi Awuku, former Deputy Communications Director and now the National Organizer for the NPP. In his words, he revealed that, Sammi Awuku through his brother-in-law convinced Asamoah Gyan to join the campaign team of Dr. Bawumia.

Before this deal was sent to Asamoah Gyan through Sammi Awuku’s in-law, Franklin as revealed by KevinnTaylor, he was on a regional tour for his humanitarian work. Kevin Taylor again revealed that Asamoah Gyan had already spent about $300,000 on his regional tour and saw the deal from Franklin to be a great opportunity to back his works.

Meanwhile, Asamoah Gyan was ‘not officially’ promised to be the Sports Minister in case Dr. Bawumia wins the December elections, but that was the idea as he was made the chair of the party’s subcommittee on youth and sports.

Furthermore, it was revealed that both Sammi Awuku and Franklin had already planned to replace Asamoah Gyan with Franklin’s nephew. Also, to avoid suspicions from the public, an anonymous bank was made available to Asamoah Gyan in order to receive funds from Dr. Bawumia.

According to Kevin Taylor, a sum of $5 million was sent to this bank account for Asamoah Gyan to withdraw but to his genuine surprise someone had already withdrawn the money and that happened to be Sammi Awuku and his in-law. Upon knowing this, Asamoah Gyan became furious and heartbroken.

In a video that was shared alongside the revelation saw a furious Asamoah, Gyan in a heated argument with Franklin which he nearly slapped him, and he later walked out of the room.
