Breaking News: Iran’s President Confirmed Dead In A Helicopter Crash
International News Regarding President Ebrahim Raisi – Breaking Iran’s President Confirmed Dead In A Helicopter Crash.
The president and foreign minister of Iran perished in a helicopter crash that shocked the entire region. Following an hours-long search through a foggy, hilly region of the country’s northwest, President Ebrahim Raisi, Hossein Amirabdollahian, the country’s foreign minister, and others were found dead at the scene, according to Iranian official media on Monday. This is what we currently know.
According to the state-run IRNA news agency, the chopper was transporting Raisi, Amirabdollahian, the governor of the province of East Azerbaijan in Iran, along with other officials and bodyguards. When the collision occurred in the Dizmar forest in Iran’s East Azerbaijan region on Sunday, Raisi was on her way back after visiting Azerbaijan’s border to officially open a dam with President Ilham Aliyev. The exact cause of the accident is yet unknown.
Search and rescue efforts, which commenced on Sunday, were reportedly hindered by the steep, forested terrain and dense fog, according to Iranian officials. Pir-Hossein Koulivand, the president of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, reported that 40 search teams were deployed in spite of “challenging weather conditions.” Koulivand stated that it was “impossible to conduct aerial searches” using drones due to the severe weather, as reported by IRNA.
Turkish authorities published what they said to be drone footage early on Monday, claiming to show what looked to be a wildfire in the woods that they “suspected to be wreckage of a helicopter.” The fire was located on a steep mountainside around 20 kilometres (12 miles) south of the border between Azerbaijan and Iran, according to the locations shown in the video.
IRNA published footage that appeared to be the accident site, which was located across a steep valley in a range of green mountains. Speaking in the Azeri dialect used there, the soldiers declared, “There it is, we found it.” Soon after, the state television stated, “There is no sign of life from people on board,” in a scrolling sentence on the screen.
