It is POSSIBLE NPP will lose the 2024 Election

Ahead of the 2024 election in Ghana, the ruling NPP has discarded its “Breaking the Eight” slogan after the NDC picked the 8th slot on the ballot for the presidential election, but the NPP is holding on to Dr. Bawumia’s “It is possible” slogan. The question is, is it possible for the NPP to lose the election?
As members of the ruling NPP scream “It is possible,” they should know that they have not qualified the slogan with a positive outcome of the election. It is possible the NPP will lose the election, and vice versa is also true.
The 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections will be held on 7th December 2024 across the country. The battle for the presidency will be between John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party.
It is Possible NPP Will Lose the 2024 Election Hands Down For The Following Reasons
If Ghanaians are sincere to themselves and put political colours aside, they would agree collectively that the ruling NPP has failed to honour nearly all its election promises from 2016 to date. From one district, one factory, to one village, one dam, to one million per constituency. President Nana Addo’s failure to protect the public purse and not being able to demonstrate practically his promise to put his presidency on the line and the tough economic situation his leadership has plunged Ghana into are all indications that the NPP has failed. On the scorecard, the NPP does not look attractive no matter how they try to market their candidate, Dr. Bawumia.
In 2016, Ghanaians voted massively for the NPP, and that led to the party securing a clear win with nearly one million votes; however, this reduced by near zero in the 2020 election. If the 2020 election results are anything to go by, the NDC stands a chance of improving their performance in both the presidential and parliamentary elections. The ruling NPP does not look attractive for the masses two months into this crucial election compared to the NDC.
No party under the fourth republic has won three consecutive elections in Ghana, and that will not happen in 2024. Ghanaians are not ready for that kind of election history. Having experienced 8 years of President Akuffo Addo and Vice President Bawumia’s government, Ghanaians are tired of the poor economic management and the hardship they are enjoying now.
Let us look at the 2016-2020 presidential election results between the NDC and NPP.
When President Akuffo Addo won the 2016 election, he obtained 974,829 votes more than John Mahama. However, in 2020, he won, but his total votes decreased by 2.42%.
John Mahama, on the other hand, increased his votes by 1,441,994 votes in 2020, which represents 2.83% more votes. Today, with two months to the election, John Maham looks more attractive than the NPP’s Dr. Bawumia, and the downward trend of NPP votes for the presidency is projected to increase while the votes of John Mahama are projected to shoot up. It will not be surprising if the margins should widen between Mahama and Bawumia in favour of Mahama to hand over victory and power to the NDC in 2025.
Based on this, it is possible the NPP will lose the 2024 election.
Nana Akufo-Addo (NPP) gained 974,829 votes in 2020, which was favourable in terms of total votes. However, his percentage of the total votes decreased by 2.42%, making it not favourable in percentage terms.
John Mahama (NDC) gained 1,441,994 votes in 2020, which was favourable in both total votes and percentage terms. His share of the vote increased by 2.83% compared to 2016.
Let us take a look at the 8-year, 2 terms per party cycle in Ghana.
President Jerry John Rawlings served 8 years under the NDC.
President Kuffour served 8 years for the NPP.
President Atta Mills and John Mahama served 8 years with the NDC.
President Akufo Addo and Dr. Bawumia will end their 8-year rule on the eve of 6th January 2025.
For the above historic election facts, it is possible the NPP will lose the 2024 election no matter how hard they try to impress Ghanaians.

On January 7th, 2025, the newly elected president of Ghana who will be sworn in will be President John Dramani Mahama and his Vice Prof. Nana Opoku Agyiman.
The next election to be held by Ghana after the 2024 election will be the 2028 election, which will be won by the NDC to make it another 8 years.
The NDC has a glorious opportunity to present entirely new candidates in the 2028 election for the presidency since John Dramani Mahama would not be eligible for reelection. He would have served two terms as elected president by the end of 2028.
Conclusion:
Based on trends in the 2016 and 2020 elections and Ghana’s historical electoral cycle, the NDC (National Democratic Congress) led by John Dramani Mahama appears more likely to win the 2024 elections than the NPP ( New Patriotic Party) 2016, despite the early There was a percentage drop, with Nana Akufo-Addo losing his vote share of 2.42% in contrast to John Mahama in 2020, who received 1,441,994 votes again, and it increased its percentage by 2.83%. Moreover, Ghana has followed an 8-year cycle of political transition since the Fourth Republic, making it unlikely that the NPP will break this process in the 2024 election. Economic crisis, dissatisfaction with the current government and the failure of the NPP to fulfill the key promises.
