Mahama gains momentum in latest poll, leading in 12 regions ahead of 2024 election
A final field poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics shows John Dramani Mahama (JDM), the opposition leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), maintaining a commanding lead over his closest competitor, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (DMB) of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
A recent survey by Global InfoAnalytics has revealed that former President John Dramani Mahama is gaining significant traction ahead of the 2024 general election, now leading in twelve regions.
This marks an increase with one more region since the July poll, with Mahama securing support in key areas including Greater Accra, Central, Western, Western North, Bono, Bono East, Northern, Savannah, Upper East, Upper West, Oti, and Volta.
In contrast, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, maintains his lead in the Ashanti, Eastern, Ahafo, and North East regions.
Notably, the Bono region, which was previously a battleground, has shifted to Mahama’s camp, attributed to a resurgence of support for both Mahama and independent candidate Alan Kyerematen in the area.
“The Bono region is new in JDM’s column according to the poll, a situation caused by the resurgence of JDM and AKK in the region.
“The ruling party is struggling to achieve its target of 85% in the Ashanti region as Nana Kwame Bediako surges. DMB remains at 66%; JDM 22%; AKK, 4%; NKB, 7% and others, 1%,” part of the report read.
