Northern California mountain lion attack: 1 dead, another injured
The Northern California mountain lion attack that took place on March 24th, 2024, led to the death of one victim, leaving the other with serious injuries, according to reports received by GlobalCurrent24.com
The two victims of the attack were brothers aged 18 and 21. Officials have disclosed that the two brothers went for antler shed hunting in Georgetown, California, and while hunting, the mountain lion attacked them.
Antler shed hunting is a common hunting activity that takes advantage of the antlers dropped by bucks and bulls by the middle of March each year. Once the weather begins to warm and the snow starts to melt away, people venture into the woods and start hunting for the antlers. Once such voyagers begin scouring the flora and fauna to find antlers left behind by deer and or elk in later winter, they collect and sell these valubales. In some instances, they are used mostly for DIY projects or kept as trophies by those who find them.
The voyage by the two brothers in Northern California, which led to the mountain lion attack, remains sad news. According to reliable news gathered from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office. by Global Current 24, the two brothers, aged 18 and 21, were attacked by the lion mountain while engaged in their shed hunting in Georgetown, California.
Sadly, the 21-year-old was dead before the deputies got to his location in the woods. The younger of the two who called 911 survived the ordeal but suffered what the health industry calls “traumatic injuries” to his face. He was transported to the nearest local health facility for immediate treatment, according to the sheriff’s office.
At the time of this publication, the authorities had yet to release the names of the two victims attacked by the mountain lion.
The mountain lion is at large, and there are already efforts to locate it by the wardens from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The epic centre of the sad lion attack, Georgetown, is located some 40 miles northeast of Sacramento. Attacks by mountain lions on humans are not a common occurrence; however, for the past 20 years, since 2004, 13 similar attacks have been recorded by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Out of the 14 attacks, only one has been fatal until this recent attack in 2024.
