Prince Harry to Return to UK For Invictus Games Anniversary
International News On The Invictus Anniversary – Prince Harry to Return to UK For Invictus Games Anniversary.
The Duke of Sussex will return to the UK in little over a week for a ceremony commemorating the Invictus Games’ tenth anniversary.
Prince Harry will attend a Thanksgiving ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 8. The prince will read during the event, while actor Damian Lewis will perform a poem.
Prince Harry was last spotted in the UK in February, paying a quick visit to King Charles following his cancer diagnosis. He will be attending his first large event in the United Kingdom in quite some time.
In 2014, the prince founded the Invictus Games, a sporting tournament for military troops who have been wounded in war.
The ceremony will commemorate “a decade of changing and saving lives through sport,” according to the Games’ spokeswoman.
Following their retirement as senior royals in 2020, the duke and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, relocated to the United States.
The official did not specify whether the prince will be joined by Meghan for the event.
In a February interview with ABC News, Harry claimed he “jumped on a plane” as quickly as possible to see his father following his cancer diagnosis, and he was “grateful” for the time they spent together.
He also hinted at future visits to the UK, saying: “I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can.”
The anticipated visit comes after Buckingham Palace announced that Charles, 75, will resume public appearances next week after making positive progress in his cancer treatment.
Next Tuesday, the King will make a symbolic visit to a cancer treatment center, and his summer plans include a state visit with Japan’s Emperor and Empress.
“It is too early to say” how much longer his therapy will last, the palace stated.
It also stated that physicians were “very encouraged by the progress made thus far and remain optimistic about the King’s continued recovery.”
The type of cancer has not been revealed, but the King’s medical staff is “sufficiently pleased with the progress made so far that the King is now able to resume a number of public-facing duties”. The Royal Family has had a terrible start to the year, with the Princess of Wales now receiving cancer treatment.
Catherine stated in a March statement that the diagnosis came as a “huge shock” after a “incredibly tough couple of months”.
She stated the cancer was detected after she underwent stomach surgery in January, and that testing following the procedure “found cancer had been present”.
“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” she went on to say.
The nature of her disease has not been revealed, but Kensington Palace expressed confidence that the princess will recover completely.
The princess expressed her concern for all people impacted by cancer, saying, “For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope.” “You’re not alone.”
According to reports, the King was “so proud of Catherine for her courage” in speaking out against her treatment.
