American Rapper, Macklemore, Cancels Dubai Show Over UAE-Sudan Conflict. Macklemore Cancelled His October 4th Dubai Show Over UAE’s Stands With Genocide.
Macklemore cancels Dubai show over the ongoing conflict in Sudan which has resulted in thousands of death as millions set to face starvation in the coming months. In an Instagram post, American rapper, Macklemore announced his withdrawal from the Dubai show due to UAE’s support to the RSF over the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
However, the UAE have denied all allegations levelled against them by Macklemore. They denied arming the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and supporting their leader, Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo. Contrary reports which was spotted in January from credible UAE sources stated it boldly on how the UAE sent weapons to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). These weapons were sent from the northern part of Chad.
The chaos in Sudan rose in mid-April 2023 when tensions begun between the paramilitary leaders and the military. The tension started right from Khartoum, the capital of Sudan and spread across the nation with Darfur inclusive.
Per reports, over 18,800 people have lost their lives while fighting, whereas more than a 10 million have taken to their heels. As of now, more than a hundred thousand faces the test of famine.
Sudan’s government boldly accused the UAE of arming the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in a U.N Security Council meeting which took place in June. Over this allegation, one of the Emirati boldly told the government to stop spreading lies as the UAE is among the nations participating in the ongoing peace talks in order to end the fighting.
Last week, the organizers of Macklemore’s Dubai show announced its cancellation and assured fans of a refund. Their cancellation did not come along with an explanation, hence, left fans in the dark. Macklemore, officially, took to his Instagram account to announce the cancellation of the show due to the ongoing UAE-Sudan conflict. Dubai Media Office and the Emirati Foreign Ministry is yet to comment or release a statement regarding Macklemore’s post regarding their involvement in the ongoing fight.
“A series of people are asking me to cancel the show in solidarity with the people of Sudan and to boycott doing business in the UAE for the role they are playing in the ongoing genocide and humanitarian crisis”, Grammy Award winner, Macklemore revealed.
He also added that his decision will definitely jeopardize his future shows in the UAE, “I know that this will probably jeopardize my future shows in the area, and I truly hate letting any of my fans down,” he said.
