Pakistan is ranked as the second most polluted country in the world. The Southern Asian country has a PM2.5 concentration to be around 65.81 µg/m³. As at February 2024, two of Pakistan’s cities, Faisalabad and Gujranwala, were ranked among the the most polluted cities in the world.
3. Mongolia
Mongolia is a country which can be located in East Asia. The country is surrounded by both China and Russia. Mongolia has a PM2.5 concentration to be around 62.00 µg/m³.
4. Afghanistan
The country which could be located at the crossroads of Central and South Asia, Afghanistan, is the fourth most polluted country in the world. Afghanistan has a 2.5 concentration at 58.80 µg/m³.
5. India
India has most of its cities in the world rank of most polluted cities in the world. The PM2.5 concentration in India is around 58.08 µg/m³.
The damage resulting from air pollution is increasing daily, hence, the adoptive methods to curb air pollution have been implemented by most countries. Air pollution does not only pose a threat to the human health, but also to the sun and the energy sector.
