What NPP’s no 1 on the ballot means – Sammy Gyamfi explains
The National Communication Officer of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has detailed the full meaning and significance of the NPP and Dr. Bawumia being placed on the 2024 presidential ballot paper at number one.
Speaking on Asempa 74.7 FM, monitored by GlobalCurrent24.0com, Sammy Gyamfi alluded that there is no good omen hovering around the number one position but but luck and failure.
According to him, the NPP had been trumpeting “Breaking the 8” for many years. They (NPP) have invested heavily in the printing of election 2024 souvenirs, breaking the 8 inscriptions only to be placed at number 1 on the ballot. “Breaking the 8, breaking the 8.. with just two months to elections, 8 has become a crime and a curse that no one can mention it.”
“All Buwumia’s T-shirts printed in China with number 8 boldly written on them have become useless. Debt has been cured. Their posters printed with 8 on them have become useless,” he said in Twi.
He furthered that no human was hunting the NPP for the turn of events after the balloting for the slots on the ballot for the presidential elections. “Their bucket is full. The NPP is under judgement,” he said.

In his view, what happened to the NPP in 2008 when they picked number 1 will repeat itself.

In his submissions, he pointed out that the NPP’s No. 1 position for the presidential elections shows that Dr. Bawumia is the number one problem of the nation. He went on to state that the one also represents the number one person in Ghana who tells lies.

Over the past few years, Dr. Bawumia has been described as a liar so much so that a search on Google gives a similar indication. According to him, God is using the No. 1 slot on the ballot to remind the NPP of their arrogances and disrespect of the Ghanaian people in 2008. He added that the NPP will go to opposition with the number one slot.
Sammy Gyamfi also called on the electorates to look out for the umbrella symbol when voting, especially because the numbers 1–13 for the candidates will not be written on the ballot papers.
