American gospel and contemporary Christian recording artist Mandisa Lynn Hundley, better known by her stage name Mandisa, was born in the United States.
She debuted on American Idol as a contestant in the fifth season, placing ninth overall. She is the fifth former American Idol contestant to win a Grammy, having won in the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album category for her album Overcomer.

She disclosed that when she was depressed, she turned to emotional eating and seclusion. “My entire life, I have engaged in emotional eating,” she said. “I gained all the weight back plus an additional 75 pounds after losing over 120 pounds, as I mentioned when I first came here. After Kisha passed away, I fell into the worst depression of my life.

On April 18, 2024, Mandisa was discovered dead at her Nashville, Tennessee, home. Her death’s cause is still unknown. “We can confirm that Mandisa was found deceased in her home yesterday,” a singer’s representative stated in a statement. We are currently unaware of the cause of death or any other information.

At the 2014 Grammy Awards, Mandisa’s album Overcomer won Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. She was already up for four more Grammy nominations.
