CAF Ban Shocks Ghana: NSA Boss Fired, Ablakwa Demands GHS 85M Refund and Sports Minister’s Sack!
Following the dismissal of the NSA boss over the poor management of the nation’s sports stadiums and the subsequent ban of Ghana by CAF for poor pitches.
Let the truth be told, CAF ban shocks Ghana to the bone as the country that loves football is likely to play its international matches outside Ghana.
The president, in a letter dated 7th September, directed that the National Sports Authority boss, Mr. Dodzie Numekevor, has been fired with immediate effect.
The Member of Parliament for North Tongue, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, demanded that the President must receive the GHS85 million stadia rehabilitation payments from his cousin and other officials.
He further called for the firing of the Sports Minister as well. According to Hon. Ablakwa, firing one person is not enough. He called for the head of the sport minister as well.
Hon. Ablakwa, prior to this sacking, had tabled how resources of the state were paid to businesses owned and managed by family members of President Nana Addo. His revelation came after continuous complaints about the poor nature of sports facilities in Ghana for international games at Baba Yara Sports Stadium and the Ohene Gyan Sports Stadium in Kumasi and Accra.
Ghana’s 0-1 loss to Angola in the 2025 Afcon qualifier at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium ignited the discovery of the huge sums paid for the maintenance of the various sports facilities.
Hon. Ablakwa described the move by President Akufo Addo as face-saving dismissal. “President Akufo-Addo’s face-saving dismissal of the NSA boss cannot suffice,” he stated in a post sighted on Facebook.
“The President must immediately retrieve our GHS 85 million stadia rehabilitation payments from his cousin Kelvin Ofori-Atta and Javkier Limited, owned by the Arhin ladies.”
“The Sports Minister must equally be fired, and all those responsible for this humongous international disgrace and huge financial loss to the state should be prosecuted.”

“Creating one scapegoat is not adequate deterrence for the unprecedented monumental international embarrassment the corrupt and inept Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government has subjected.”

Most Ghanaians simply can’t wait for the period of real accountability from January 7th, 2025, he added.
