Leo Varadkar has been a Taoiseach since December 2022. Simon Harris, the 37-year-old Irish minister for higher education is defying all odds and ranking as the top member to become the new Ireland leader.
After the resignation of Leo Varadkar, three top ministers were tipped as high replacements ahead of Simon Harris. The three ministers; Heather Humphreys, Helen McEntee, and Paschal Donohoe all have made it clear of not contending for the Ireland leader position.
Both Humphrey and McEntee have made it known that they are in full support of Simon Harris to become the new Ireland leader. As at now nominations are open and will close on Monday at 13:00 local time.
Former Ireland leader, Leo Varadkar vowed to give his full support to his successor. In case there is to be a contest for the new position, the winner will be declared on the 5th of April, 2024.
Per the odds, Mr Harris is the favorite to become the new Ireland leader, as he has amassed massive support. Minister of State, Neale Richmond disclosed that he is backing Mr Harris to become the new leader and he is the best man for the job.
In case Simon Harris is appointed the new Ireland leader, he would be another young leader for Ireland after the former leader was appointed at the age of 38. Mr. Simon Harris was the health minister in 2016, brought a huge change to the health sector of Ireland.
Mr. Simon Harris, the wonder boy who dropped from college to hold the position of health sector and now to a TD, Teachta Dála, has a great chance of becoming the new Taoiseach.

In 2011, the 2-year-old Simon Harris nominated the former Ireland leader, Enda Kenny for Taoiseach in his maiden speech.
Mr. Simon Harris, during his tenure as the health minister rose to prominence due to his effective plans during the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
After the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr. Simon Harris was ‘demoted’ to minster for further and higher education which some people concluded that he was a ‘threat’ to Mr. Varadkar.
It’s an open play for the nomination and appointment of the new Ireland leader, but Mr. Simon Harris has all the odds in his favour. A one to watch closely.
To emphatically state again, Heather Humphreys, Helen McEntee, and Paschal Donohoe have publicly made it known that, they are not interested and will not be standing for appointment as the new Ireland leader.
