16-Year-Old South African Girl Commits Suicide After Finding Out She Was Conceived Through R*pe
International News Regarding Musa Tshabalala in Alexandra, Johannesburg – 16-Year-Old South African Girl Commits Suicide After Finding Out She Was Conceived Through R*pe
A 16-year-old South African girl commits suicide after consuming rat poison. Her family confirmed she used the substance after learning she was conceived through r*pe.
Musa Tshabalala, a Grade 10 student at East Bank High School in Alexandra, Johannesburg, committed suicide on April 17, 2024, and her 78-year-old grandmother is currently attempting to bury her.
Musa’s cousin, Buyisiwe Tshabalala, told a local newspaper, ZiMoja, on Friday, May 3, that she thought Tshabalala committed suicide because she had never met her mother.
“Musa’s upbringing was extremely sad. She was conceived using r*pe when her mother was only 12 years old. After giving birth to Musa, she abandoned her with her grandmother, who raised her. Musa was always annoyed that she never got to know her mother. When she discovered she was conceived through r*pe, she began asking a lot of questions, and it broke her even more when she learned that the alleged r*pist is a family member,” Tshabalala stated.
Tshabalala told ZiMoja that weeks before Musa killed herself, she wanted to know more about her alleged father and mother, but her grandmother was unwilling to share the information.
“She felt like she was the reason her mother never came back home and what made things worse was the situation at home, Our grandmother is poor and was supporting her with a grant, which was not enough and things were bad,” she went on to say.
Also, the latest development regarding this sad news is that the family is unable to afford the cost of her burial. The grandmother is in need of assistance in raising funds for Musa’s burial.
“The grandmother paid for funeral policies, but she didn’t cover Musa, possibly because she never expected to have to bury her.” Musa is still at the government mortuary. We tried contacting the ward councillor, but nothing happened. “This is the situation we are currently in,” Tshabalala pleaded.
