Dangote refinery has a refining capacity of 650,000 barrels but is now operating at about 300,000 barrels per day, which is roughly half of its nominal capacity.
The Dangote Refinery in Lagos has been classified as one of the largest refineries in Europe, with a refining capacity that exceeds ten other refineries.
The $20 billion refinery, which was formally opened by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023, began operations last year after receiving the fifth crude oil cargo of one million barrels of Bonny Light from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited.
According to refinery management, the crude oil supply will begin production of diesel, aviation fuel, and LPG before moving to Premium Motor Spirit.
The private refinery has a refining capacity of 650,000 barrels, but according to experts at WoodMac, FGE, and Citac, it is now operating at about 300,000 barrels per day, which is roughly half of its nominal capacity.
