Russia Arrests Four Gunmen Linked To The Moscow Concert Attack
Russia arrests four gunmen linked to the Moscow concert attack, reports from Kremlin says. As of now, 115 people have been reported dead in relation to the attack on the capital.
Hours after the attack on the capital, ISIS, an Islamic State Group, claimed responsibility for this incident in an official statement.
According to the Russian FSB security, four people linked to the attack on the capital have been arrested while they were heading to the Ukrainian border.
After the incident, the Russian security arrested 11 people, which four of the alleged gunmen were included. The shooting which has been tagged as a terrorist attack claimed the lives of 115 people so far.
Alexander Bortnikov, the Chief of the FSB Security service, had reported the arrests of these gunmen to President Vladimir Putin, and they are working to find out their accomplices and why they initiated the attack.
The Crocus City mall can occupy about 6,200 people per event, and according to the investigative committee, 100 people have so far been injured and 115 dead as a result of the attack.
The Soviet-era group, PICNIC, was to perform on Friday at the Crocus City mall. According to reports, five gunmen were opened automatic fire on visitors at the said location, which resulted in dozens of death, injuries, and fear.
A branch of the Islamic State Group, ISIS, officially claimed responsibility for the Friday attack on the capital. The four gunmen arrested, according to reports, had contact in Ukraine. Per this, the Russian security had not released any evidence to the public of a connection with the Ukrainian government.
The Presidential adviser for Ukraine, Mykhailo Podolyak, disclosed on Friday that they had no connection with the attack on the capital and hence the ISIS had claimed responsibility already.
Alexander Khinshtein, a Russian politician, disclosed that the gunmen took to their heel in a white Renault car, which was seen by the Russian police. The vehicle was spotted South-west of Moscow. These gunmen disobeyed the instructions of the police to stop the vehicle.
According to him, two of these gunmen were arrested after an intense car chase and two also fled through a forest. According to reports, the two who fled were later caught.
The Russian politician again added that, a passport from Tajikistan was found in the chased vehicle, alongside a magazine for a rifle, and a pistol. Tajikistan is a state that used to be among the Soviet Union, and they are also a Muslim Central Asian state.
The attack, which happened on Friday on the capital, came just days after President Putin secured a huge win in the elections.
As of Saturday morning, the fire on the Crocus City Mall had been taken care of, according to the Governor of Moscow, Andrey Borobyov. The Governor also added that he was setting a force to deal with this attack on the capital.
The Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, had called-off all mass gatherings for this weekend, and deemed it to be unsafe for the people at the moment. He dearly sent his condolences to all the people who lost their loved ones in the attack.
