15 Injured Universal Studios Hollywood Tram Crash
News reaching GlobalCurrent24.com is, 15 people were injured in the Universal Studios Hollywood tram crash.
On Saturday night, a tram crashed at Universal Studios Hollywood, injuring 15 people and transporting them to hospitals.
Los Angeles County Fire Department announced on social media that its units were dispatched to the theme park shortly after 21:00 local time.
The patients were being treated for minor injuries, the statement added. The county sheriff told the Los Angeles Times that a four-car tram crashed.
According to Lt. Maria Abal, the tram’s last car collided with a rail while traveling down a hill at a parking structure. “There was some type of issue with the brakes,” Abal said. He went on to say: “We don’t exactly know what yet.”
Trams transport visitors around Universal Studios Hollywood, which spans over 400 acres, as they do at many other theme parks. Trams can also be used for tours. It is unclear what the tram was used for at the time of the crash.
It is also unclear whether theme park operations will be disrupted, but the California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
Universal Studios Hollywood is located in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles County, California.
It began as a film studio in 1915 and expanded to include a theme park in 1964.
Key attractions include The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and a studio tour ride that takes visitors behind the scenes of some of Hollywood’s most memorable films and television shows.
The park is one of several Universal Studios locations. Others include Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Singapore.
A spokesperson for Universal Studios stated, “There was a tram incident at the theme park Saturday night that resulted in multiple minor injuries, as confirmed by the LA County Fire Department.
“We are working to support our guests and understand the circumstances that led to the accident.”
