Trump Urges Israel to stop Gaza Offensive as Support Wanes
Trump urges Israel to conclude Gaza offensive as it is losing significant backing.
Trump expressed his belief that Israel may be attempting to demonstrate its strength, but cautioned that there are instances when such actions may not be advisable.
Former President Donald Trump is advising Israeli authorities to swiftly conclude their military operation in the Gaza region, emphasizing that global opinion is turning against their campaign.
Trump, the likely Republican candidate for the 2024 presidential election, recently discussed the ongoing conflict in an interview with Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom. He cautioned that the international community is growing weary of the situation.
“It is imperative that you bring your military operation to a close. You must complete it. It is essential that you finish it,” he stated during the interview.
He added, “We must strive for peace. This ongoing conflict cannot persist, and I must stress that Israel needs to exercise caution as it is losing significant support from around the world.”

Israel initiated its offensive in the Gaza region shortly after the Oct. 7 massacre, a large-scale terrorist attack orchestrated by Hamas that resulted in the deaths of more than 1,200 Israeli citizens.
In the meantime, tensions between President Biden’s administration and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government are escalating.
Netanyahu has vowed that an invasion into the city of Rafah is imminent, with or without U.S. approval.
“That’s a terrible portrait. It’s a very bad picture for the world,” Trump told the newspaper about Israel’s ground offensive. “I think Israel wanted to show that it’s tough, but sometimes you shouldn’t be doing that.”
Palestinian casualties in the conflict following Oct. 7 have passed 30,000, according to the Hamas-run Palestinian Ministry of Health.
Trump strongly criticized the Biden administration’s management of the conflict in the interview, expressing his belief that if he had been in power, Hamas would not have carried out the Oct. 7 massacre.
According to Trump, Biden’s foreign policy track record over the past five decades has been abysmal, and he believes that this lack of strong leadership has emboldened groups like Hamas.
In Trump’s opinion, individuals who worked alongside Biden in previous administrations viewed him as a feeble and inefficient leader, which he implies has contributed to the brazenness of Hamas in launching such an attack.

Trump suggests that his own strong and decisive leadership would have deterred such actions, as he believes that his tough stance on terrorism and unwavering support for Israel would have sent a clear message to groups like Hamas that such attacks would not be tolerated.
