Woman Charged After Crashing Car Into Birthday Party, Killing 2 Kids
Woman charged after crashing car into birthday party which resulted in the death of two kids, according to local authorities.
After reportedly driving into a child’s birthday party in Michigan, killing two kids and wounding numerous others, a woman is accused with second-degree murder, according to authorities.
An 8-year-old girl and her 4-year-old brother were killed in Saturday’s crash.
Marshella Chidester, 66, is accused of striking a building at the Swan Creek Boat Club in Newport on Saturday afternoon. The sheriff and prosecutors say that her car came to rest around 25 feet within the building.
According to Monroe County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey Yorkey, an 8-year-old girl and her 4-year-old brother perished.
According to Yorkey, the mother of the victims and their 11-year-old brother both have severe injuries.
According to the prosecution, there were two other critical injuries: a 14-year-old child and an 18-year-old lady. “They entered the birthday celebration and were having a good time. “This woman crashed her car through this building, destroying all of our lives, while they were eating at that table,” the aunt of the four- and eight-year-old victims told reporters on Tuesday.
The aunt sobbed as she added, “I had to be the one to tell my sister her babies were gone.” “She said, ‘How am I supposed to live without my babies?'”
“My nephew and my sister are still fighting for their lives,” she added.
According to Yorkey, Childester has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of operating while intoxicated resulting in death, and four counts of operating while intoxicated causing serious harm.
Chidester was arraigned on Tuesday and is scheduled to return to court on April 30.
